MCL Birmingham are delighted to announce that we have recently been appointed as the preferred audio-visual supplier to the ICC Birmingham. MCL Birmingham, secured this appointment in the face of intense competition, and one of the reasons for MCL’s success has been the excellent working relationship that exists between MCL’s Hire Desk Manager Chris Cheatle and the ICC Birmingham’s Technical Manager Paul Dipple.
Chris commented
“We have always worked very hard to ensure we provide, what our clients want, when they want it. However we took this a step further for the ICC Birmingham. We met with the ICC Birmingham team and noted the areas in which they saw the greatest need for additional support in the coming years. For example there was an increasing requirement for moving lights and as a result we invested over £70,000 in adding to our already extensive lighting stock in Birmingham”
As well as having access to the extensive hire inventory of MCL Birmingham, Chris is also able to offer equipment and expertise from all the other Avesco plc group companies, which include Creative Technology, Screenco, Presteigne Broadcast hire and Dimension Audio.
On behalf of the ICC Birmingham, Paul Dipple was delighted to be able to confirm this agreement with MCL Birmingham. “We have worked closely with MCL Birmingham for a number of years and we have always been very pleased with both the quality of equipment and the service provided. We look forward to working even more closely with MCL in the future”. MCL provides audio visual hire equipment and support for some of the UK’s biggest corporate names. For the second year in succession, MCL staged the Scottish Labour Party’s 2004 Spring Conference. Held in February, at the Eden Court Theatre in a scenic, snow covered Inverness, MCL designed the set, specified the equipment, led the technical team, and liaised with Production Company Speakeasy Productions, the venue technical team led by Technical Manager Bob Shanks, Host Broadcasters BBC Scotland, and a broad range of media companies to ensure that the technical resources needed were always at hand during the three days of conference. After a hectic week, the teams’ journey home from Inverness had its reward – a panoramic pristine white vista of Aviemore and the Monadhliath Mountains under cloudless blue skies in bright spring sunshine – memories are made of this!
Cake Media recently called on MCL Birmingham to help support them in a project involving one of their clients Orange. The Orange British Academy Film Awards took place in February 2004 and in the month proceeding the awards Cake and the MCL crew travelled to 15 different venues around the UK in a branded bus to promote the BAFTA’s and Orange’s involvement. The Bus was parked up at busy locations within city centres and members of the public were invited on to the bus and filmed against a blue wall. By using chromakey technology and a Sony DFS 700 vision mixer, Rob Lacy the MCL Vision technician was able to superimpose these unsuspecting members of the public on some pre filmed footage showing the cheering crowds and celebrities on the red carpet at the entrance to the BAFTA’s.
These Mini Movies were then edited and resized on the bus using Adobe Premier Pro before being sent via SD card to an Orange SPV E200 mobile phone so the mini movie could be viewed seconds later by the unsuspecting actors.
From the moment you decide on the venue for your conference, we’ll be at your side providing advice and guidance in terms of the best way to organise the vision sound lighting and audio visual hire staging for your event.
We’ll make sure your show looks great and that in turn will make your company look good too.
